About
The department of physical education started at the inception of anurag group of institutions in the year 2002. Since then, the physical directors have been putting in their best efforts in imbibing knowledge and imparting skills to students and faculty in various sports and games, developing them to higher levels of expertise. Today sports and games have become a part of student development at anurag. Till date the department of physical education has produced 17 university representatives at national level and has won many major tournaments in various sports and games.

Activities
Sports Bout (Inter-College Tournament):
It is the most loved and awaited Sports Event of Anurag Group of Institutions every year. Sports Bout is a two-day inter-college Sports tournament open to all Engineering and Pharmacy colleges in and around Hyderabad. It was hosted for the first time in October 2012 as “Sports Bout-2k12” and the same glory and charm is being carried every year conducting this fest. Teams from various colleges compete in team events like Basketball, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Throwball, Volleyball and Indoor events like Badminton, Carroms, Chess and Table Tennis. Attractive Prizes and Huge Prize money is given away every year.
Annual Sports:
Every year sports, games and cultural activities are organized for the students. Naturally the student community enjoys each and every moment of the competitions with active participation and spirited performances. Faculty members of the institution also participate actively in the sports and games competitions. Every year celebrities from the industry are invited to Synergy – the College Annual Day Celebration to share their experiences.
Zonal Tournaments:
As a part of the JNTU zonal tournaments our college teams of boys and girls participate actively in all the sports and games every year. Anurag group of institutions has won OVER-ALL CHAMPIONSHIP at JNTU zone-d tournaments for the academic year 2011-2012.
Inter-University Tournaments:
Boys and girls are trained and encouraged to participate actively in the University team selections and the students selected to represent the university teams are encouraged with all facilities to participate in the South-zone inter-university and All-India inter-university tournaments.
Apart from these regular activities, our players participate in many invitation tournaments and inter-college tournaments in and around the state.

At the JNTUH Central-Zone Tournament 2k14, our college Cricket team and Basketball Men & Women’s teams were the Runners Ups standing second at the JNTUH University level.

- The Cricket team of Anurag Group of Institutions secured second position at the JNTUH D-Zone Inter-College Cricket tournament and qualified for the University Central Zone tournament standing among the top 8 teams of JNTUH-Hyderabad.

- The Girls’ Kabaddi team made its debut at Pralwalan-2k14- Inter-college sports fest conducted by Vignan Institute for Women, Ghatkesar and secured First Place.

Physical Director Tara Singh Thakur was deputed as manager for the JNTUH Badminton Team for All-India Inter-University Badminton Tournament for Men & Women which was held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa & Physical Director Ch.Mahesh accompanied the JNTUH Wrestling team as Coach/Manager for All-India Inter-University Wrestling Championship held at Patiala, Punjab.
Sports At AGI – December 2013
Being busy with their end-semester examinations, Anuragians could not involve themselves in sports actively in this month. Even then, we have some brilliant individual achievements in sports from Anurag Group of Institutions.
Mr.M.Venu Kalyan of Mech-IV Yr who is a proved and talented cricketer attended the JNTUH University cricket team selections and got selected for the University team for the second consecutive year in the position of Medium Pacer. He was a part of the University team which participated in the Central Zone Inter-University Cricket tournament held at Warangal from 28th December 2013 to 2nd January 2014.
Mr.NVS.Vijetha of CSE-III Yr who previously led the JNTUH Men’s Badminton team to Gold Medal in the Central Zone participated in Tata –International Challenge Tournament in Mumbai and also Senior Nationals held at New Delhi. Later he along with his teammates of University Badminton team participated in All-India Inter-University Badminton Tournament held at Bhubaneswar from 21st to 29th December 2013.The team lost in the Quarter finals.
Ms.Himaja of EEE-I Yr attended the selection trials for JNTUH Women’s Taekwondo team and secured her place in the University Women’s Taekwondo team. The team will be participating in the All-India Inter-University Taekwondo Championship to be held at Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 6th January to 11th January 2014.
Outstanding Players:
Mr.S.Rajesh- Mech-III Yr (AGI): Rajesh hailing from Beerpoor-a rural village of Karimnagar District was lover of the rural manly game Kabaddi since his childhood. Grown up with a strong muscular physique Rajesh proved himself to be a tough player to opponents and played many state level tournaments during schooling. Now keeping up the same strength and confidence in physique and game, he got selected for the JNTUH University Kabaddi team to play in the position of Right Cover. The University team will be participating in Central Zone Inter-University Kabaddi Tournament to be held at Kakatiya University, Warangal from 25th November 2013.
Mr.K.Surya Prakash- Mech-II Yr (AGI): Surya started playing Handball in school and was a part of his school team for all 4 years of his High School Education and led his team as the captain for one year at zonal tournaments. He was selected to represent his district Handball team at State Level Tournament. After pursuing his polytechnic, Surya joined Anurag Group of Institutions this year and in a very short span of time, today he is well known in the college as “Surya-Handball Player “as he was selected for the JNTUH University Handball team and played at Central-Zone Inter-University Handball Tournament which was held from 15th to 18th November at Warangal.
Abdul Lateef Khan- Chem-IV Yr (AGI): Born in the City of Nawabs, Lateef Khan has chosen Anurag Group of Institutions for his Graduation in Chemical Engineering. Basically being a dedicated Football player Lateef Khan developed strong and flexible body which permits him for Wrestling. Out of his interest in wrestling and by the support of his friends, Lateef achieved expertise in wrestling skills and finally reserved his position in JNTUH University Wrestling team and will be representing JNTUH Wrestling team in the All-India Inter-University Wrestling Championship in the month of December.
Minakshi.M-ECE I Yr (AGI): Handball, Football, Badminton, Athletics and Swimming are not only her Sports of interest but Minakshi secured merit in all these events during her schooling and represented the district Handball team of Raigad at Maharastra State Handball Championship. Joining AGI in first year of graduation, her talent was identified and Minakshi was encouraged to attend the selection trials of JNTUH University Women’s Handball team and was talented enough to be selected for the University team. She was a member of JNTUH Women’s Handball team which participated in Central-Zone Inter-University Handball Tournament which was held from 15th to 18th November at Warangal.
Mr.NVS.Vijetha of CSE-III Yr represented India at Bulgaria International Badminton Championship held at Bulgaria, Europe from 3rd to 6th October 2013 and played a challenging game against one of the top ranking players in Badminton. He was selected for the JNTUH men’s Badminton team as the captain and led the team in securing Gold Medal at the Central Zone Inter-University Badminton Championship held at Bhubaneswar from 7th to 12th October 2013.
Mr.Mahesh Vemula-Mech-IV Yr- “NBA ROCKSTAR” is his signature’s tagline by default and being a part of University Basketball team was his dream. Mahesh basically being an all-rounder in sports and academics since schooling has excellence in team games like Volleyball, Kabaddi and Basketball. Starting as a player among the main 5 players of CVSR Basketball team since its inception, Mahesh today leads the team in the position of Feeder. Finally in his final year of his graduation, out of his full efforts he secured his position as feeder for the JNTUH University men’s Basketball team which participated in the Central Zone Inter-University Basketball Championship at Bhubaneswar, Orissa.
Mr.V.S.RaviKiran-CSE-IV Yr- Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, Ravi started playing Basketball in his first year of graduation after joining Anurag Group of Institutions. Since then he has been actively playing among the main 5 players of CVSR Basketball team and played a key role in winning many trophies for Anurag Group of Institutions. Due to some major injury in his ankle, Ravi could not attend the University selection trials in the previous year. Standing strong back in his game he finally took complete advantage of his height in securing his position among the players of JNTUH men’s Basketball team and played for JNTUH at Central Zone Inter-University Basketball Championship at Bhubaneswar, Orissa.
Enhancement in Infrastructure:
A fully fledged wooden floor accommodating two Badminton courts have been inaugurated at Anurag Group of Institutions on the occasion of Sports Bout-2k13 which could attract entries for the tournament from players of 60 colleges – 60 in singles category and 40 teams in doubles category. On the whole the new courts looked busy and engaged to maximum possible extent with colorful jerseys.

This academic year 2012-13 has brought loads of laurels and glory to Anurag Group of Institutions through sports and games. It gives me an immense pleasure in presenting you the highlights of the year and some of the key players of the Institution who have performed extremely well at University, State, National and International levels.
- One of the milestones for the Department of Physical Education at Anurag Group of Institutions in this academic year was "Sports Bout-2k12" – a two day inter-collegiate sports festival. Around 1200 participants from over 45 engineering colleges have taken part in this festival and it was a grand success securing lots of appreciation from players and physical directors of other colleges and also from the national referees.
- The most prestigious achievement for the year comes through Mr.N.V.S.Vijetha of CSE-II Yr who secured second position at state level Badminton ranking tournament, represented JNTUH University Badminton team at South-Zone and All-India Universities meet and participated at Li-Ning International Badminton tournament held at Singapore.
- In a world where Cricket has become the craziest and competitive game, Mr.M.Venu Kalyan of MECH-III Yr could secure his position in Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence and represented JNTUH University Cricket team at the South-Zone Inter-University Cricket tournament held at Manipal University.
- I feel proud to let you know that Anurag Group of Institutions backed the Over-All Championship for the second consecutive year at JNTUH D-Zone tournament.
- Mr.D.Ramakanth of Chemical-III Yr was a part of the JNTUH University Wrestling team which participated in the All-India Inter-University Wrestling Championship held at Amarawati University.
- Our Kabaddi team proved to be one of the strongest teams in JNTU Hyderabad by securing second position at the JNTUH Central-Zone Kabaddi tournament
- Ms.K.Vijetha of MECH-III Yr represented JNTUH University Kho-Kho team at the South-Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho tournament.
- At the JNTUH Central-Zone Badminton tournament Mr.N.V.S.Vijetha of CSE-II Yr secured Gold Medal inMens Singles category and Ms.Shaik Salwa of MECH-II Yr secured silver medal in women's singles category.
- Mr.D.Kranthi of ECE-II Yr secured Medals at State and National level in Mixed-Martial Arts in various forms.
Highlights of 2011-12
- Mr.NVS.Vijetha of CSE 1st year secured bronze medal at south-zone inter-university badminton championship and was selected for nationals
- Two out of five main players of the JNTUH university women’s basketball team were from our institution. They are Ms.D.Pavithra Reddy of Mech 3rd year and Ms.B.Sumalatha of Civil 2nd year.
- Ms.K.Vijetha of Mech 2nd year represented the university women’s kho-kho team at the south zone inter university kho-kho tournament
- Mr.V.Prabhakar of M-tech(mech) 1st year lead the university kabaddi team as a caption of the fourth consecutive year this time
- Mr.Md Osman of EEE 4th year was selected of the JNTUH university Table Tennis team
- Mr.K.Venu Kalyan of mech-2nd year was selected among the best 20 fast bowlers from the state by the Hyderabad cricket association center of excellence
- Mr.S.Balakrishna of MBA-2nd year set a national level score at the University Power lifting selections and secured 1st position
- Mr. Hari Madhav Reddy of MCA-2nd year secured silver medal at the AP Roller-shutting championship and represented the state at the nationals
- Mr.Sharath of IT-2nd year secured silver medal at the state level karate championship and last but not least and the biggest
- Our college won the overall championship at the university D zone tournament standing 1st among 32 colleges which participate out of 84 colleges in the zone.
Sports Bout-2K13
Anurag Group of Institutions feels proud to announce that the Men and Women Basketball teams of AGI have been shortlisted by Basketball Federation of India for IMG Reliance Colleges League hosted by BFI in 8 cities all-over India with top ten teams in men’s and women’s section being selected from each city. Our teams will be playing this league tournament from January to March 2014.
Fest Report
Announced with the tag line “Experience true sporting”, this two-day sports festival SPORTS BOUT-2K13 proved to be worthy, truthful and successful in hosting a healthy competition between boys and girls of various colleges from all over. Anurag group of institutions was successful in conducting this two days festival in the following events.

Inspite of tournaments being conducted on the same dates in some of the well established colleges, SPORTS BOUT 2K13 could gather 1400 participants from over 60 colleges including 3 sister concern colleges of Anurag Group of Institutions. This no. shows the interest and response of various colleges to SPORTS BOUT just because of the way it was conducted previous year. Other than these 1400 active participants, we had over 100 visitors from various colleges who visited to enjoy the fest and its atmosphere. Anurag Group of Institutions exposed its capabilities in accommodating and hosting this successful and beautiful festival.

Fest Report
Anurag Group of Institutions hosted an Inter-College Sports Festival for the first time in the year 2012 by the name Sports Bout-2K12. That very first year, the tournament was a successful event with 1100 participants from 45 different Engineering and Pharmacy colleges competing in 7 disciplines. Later in the year 2013, Sports Bout-2K13 with two additional events attracted 1400 participants from 60 different colleges and prizes worth Ninety Thousand Rupees were given away.
Sports Bout-2K14 organized on 17th & 18th October 2014 was the most awaited Sports Fest for all Engineering and Pharmacy Colleges in and around the twin cities. After the formation of the new state of Telangana, Sports Bout-2K14 was the biggest Sports festival announced with 8 team games and 4 Indoor games each for men and women. Competitions were held in Badminton, Basketball, Carroms, Chess, Cricket (Women), Football, Kabaddi (Men), Table Tennis, Throwball (Women) and Volleyball. At the inaugural ceremony Prof.N.S.Dileep, Secretary, JNTUH Sports Council was the Chief Guest and Prof.M.Bhagvanth Rao, Sr.Director, Anurag Group of Institutions was the Guest of Honor.
A total of 1700 participants from 68 different colleges competed this year making Sports Bout-2k14 the most crowded fest in the history of Anurag Group of Institutions and can boldly be said to be the biggest sports festival till date in the state of Telangana. Qualified Officials for all the games were hired from the State Associations which lead towards the smooth and undisputed conduct. The college campus looked most colorful on these two days with jerseys of players from different colleges. Towards the end Prof.Rajesh Kumar, Chairman-Board of Studies in Physical Education, Osmania University was the Chief Guest and Mr.P.B.Srinath, Former Indian Basketball Player was the Guest of Honor along with the Chairman of Anurag Group of Institutions Dr.Rajeshwar Reddy graced the occassion at the Valedictory Function held on the evening of 18th October.
Total Prizes worth Rs.1,30,000 (One Lakh Thirty Thousand Rupees Only) were given away for the winners of this prestigious event. The most interesting part of this Sports Festival was that it was dedicated to the Alumni of Anurag Group of Institutions and the total Prize Money was sponsored by the lovely sportive Alumni of Anurag Group of Institutions. The teams of Anurag Group of Institutions reached the finals of 7 out of 8 team events proving to be the best teams of the tournament. Finally Sports Bout-2K14 justified its tag line Experience True Sporting……

Fest Report
Sports Bout-2K15 was undoubtedly the most awaited sports fest of this academic year for all the colleges of Engineering and Pharmacy in and around the twin cities of Telangana State. Inaugurated by Prof.Y.Gopi Krishna, Secretary-JNTUH Inter-College Sports & Games on 9th October, 2015 it turned out to be a successful Inter-College Sports Festival. This two-day fest was hosted on 9th & 10th October, 2015 at Anurag Group of Institutions inviting over 100 colleges. Competition was conducted for Boys and Girls in Badminton, Basketball, Carroms, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Throwball and Volleyball. The number of participants in the fest has reached its maximum in its 4 years of history with 2000 plus participants from various colleges. With all qualified officials, association of sportive alumni, well established infrastructure, dedicated staff and volunteers the fest was a success show. The lunch break of first day was the craziest time in the campus with heart throbbing cycle stunts and beautifully composed group dances by 60 dancers. At the valedictory we had Prof.V.Satyanarayana, Director of Physical Education; Osmania University was the Chief Guest and Pro-Kabaddi, Bengaluru Bulls fame Dharmaraj Cheralathan graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. The prize winners of the fest were awarded total prizes worth one lakh fifty thousand rupees including the Best Player awards. The campus looked bright and crowded with glowing colors of various teams and entire fraternity of Anurag Group of Institutions enjoyed the healthy atmosphere in the campus.
